Topic: Quimby Wisdom Section: 02 - FORWARD by Dr. Erroll S. Collie Table of Contents to this Topic |
Foreword by Dr. Erroll S. Collie The Coming of the Greatest Science Dr. Quimby was not only a philosopher but a brilliant scientist who discovered the true cause and cure of disease after long years of diligent laboratory experiments. And it may be said of him "Rare are the men who can rise to the heights of unbiased calm in their search for truth; even more rare are those who having found truth, dare to proclaim it in its pristine and untarnished form before the world."(1) Since Dr. Quimby wrote his notes, few if any have been able to heal as he did. this is not because he did not leave us sufficient information on the subject, but because this science "is acknowledged by the wisdom of the five senses. It requires more senses to put man in possession of this science."(2) So it is not only a matter of learning but a matter of reaching to a certain spiritual development which will allow the healer to heal by discerning the thoughts of others. This spiritual development Dr. Quimby called the Christ or the clairvoyant state of consciousness. Lacking this development, his students will have to resort to questioning their patients to find the errors in their thinking. And he tells us in his teachings what these errors are that cause disease. Besides other titles, Dr. Quimby calls his science The Science of Correcting an Error since it "embraces every part of man's reason and destroys opinions on all subjects which tend to disturb man's happiness." He teaches that an error cannot be corrected by a belief, only by pure reason, which leads to understanding. "A belief is one thing and wisdom is another." It is true that faith plays an important part in our development, but even "faint plays an important part in our development, but even "faith must be governed by reason and fact."(1) So let us "strive to understand" and to realize that "Science is the voice of God."
